Fire Dampers:

Relevant Standards: DW/145: Installation of Fire and Smoke Dampers; DW/144: Sheet Metal Ductwork; TR/19®: Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation systems and TR19® Grease: Fire Risk Management of Grease Accumulation within Kitchen Extraction Systems. Reference should also be made to BS9999 and Heating and ventilation of health sector buildings (HTM 03-01) and Fire safety in the design of healthcare premises (HTM 05-02).

Competency:

If reports are not available then a visual survey of the building and report compiled to provide further information on the estimated amount and type of dampers on site.

Grease Extract Cleaning:

Bacterial and Fungal Colonisation

Trafalgar Scientific paddle-dipslides (Product Code BTM2) are used to culture yeast/bacterial and mould/fungal growth. The dipslides contain: -
Slides are incubated for 72 hours at high ambient temperature, approximately 30°C, in order to replicate worst-case typical sampling conditions and according to the manufacturers’ protocol. Following incubation, the growth on the slides is compared to the standard comparison chart.

Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

The regular sampling for gaseous contamination at a maximum of 30 no. locations per building, using standard re-agent techniques for the following gases:-
The production of a concise report detailing findings, results of sampling and complete with photographic / video evidence, and recommendations for any further action required in compliance with BESA TR/19
